If you’re already running out of ideas to keep your children entertained during the school holidays, we have a great suggestion.
Kids Week, an annual London theatre initiative by the Society of London Theatre, is now underway. Over 35 shows are offering free tickets for children, including beloved titles like We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and What the Ladybird Saw for younger audiences, as well as classics like The Wind in the Willows, The Borrowers, and Fantastic Mr Fox for older kids. Popular West End productions such as The Lion King, Jungle Book, and Wicked are also part of the lineup.
This year, nearly 160,000 tickets have already been issued, with 60,000 still available for August performances. One child aged 16 or under can attend a participating show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Up to two additional children can go for half price, with no extra booking, postage, or transaction fees.
There’s also an impressive range of free activities and events, including storytelling, backstage tours, choreography, and stage combat workshops.
Kids Week, one of the longest-running audience development programs globally, began in 1998 as a week-long event but has expanded to fill the entire month of August, reaching over 1.2 million children and families.
Kids Week ticket holders can also access various “Kids Go Free” deals on dining, tours, and hotels.
So, if you’re considering a theatre outing with your children, Kids Week offers the perfect opportunity—but act fast, as tickets are selling quickly.
