The Most Popular Baby Boy and Girl Names

Choosing the perfect name for a child often takes considerable thought. Some parents have a list of favorite names ready long before the baby arrives, while others wait to meet their newborn before deciding.

Trends in baby names shift yearly, influenced by celebrities, politics, popular TV shows, and books. This year, floral and vintage names are still fashionable, along with girls’ names ending in “a.”

Olivia remains the most popular girl’s name in England and Wales, holding the top position for two consecutive years. For boys, Muhammad returns to the number one spot, overtaking Oliver, who briefly held it last year.

The top twenty girl names saw some reshuffling, primarily among longstanding favorites. Sophia and Amelia moved up, Isabella and Isabelle swapped places, while Emily and Lily dropped.

New and rising names in the top 20 for girls include Ivy, Emily, Phoebe, and Grace. Ivy notably climbed 26 places, and Grace moved up by 6.

For boys, the top twenty also saw significant changes. Harry and Noah swapped positions within the top 5, while Jack fell from the top 5 for the first time in years. Freddie rose by nine spots, and new entries included Archie, Theo, and Logan.
